our history
Nestled in the serene Ololua Trail of Karen, Nairobi, Kenya, the Amby Bird Sanctuary stands as a testament to passion and conservation. Its story begins with the founder named Ambitho, fondly known as “Amby” among locals.
In the early 2000s, Amby, an avid bird enthusiast, recognized the dwindling habitats for avian species amidst urban sprawl. Determined to make a difference, she embarked on a mission to create a safe haven for birds and wildlife alike. What started as a personal endeavor soon evolved into a community project, drawing volunteers, conservationists, and nature lovers together.
Over the years, the sanctuary has grown in both size and significance, serving as a vital refuge for migratory birds and indigenous species. Its tranquil ambiance and rich biodiversity offer a sanctuary for not only birds but also for those seeking solace in nature’s embrace.
Today, the Amby Bird Sanctuary stands as a living testament to Amby’s legacy, inspiring future generations to cherish and protect the natural world.
